„Hybrid sequences“
Prof. Harald Niederreiter (RICAM Linz and University of Salzburg)

Abstract:
Hybrid sequences are used in numerical integration techniques that 
combine the
advantages of Monte Carlo methods and quasi-Monte Carlo methods. A hybrid
sequence is a sequence of points in a multidimensional unit cube that is 
composed
from lower-dimensional sequences of two different types, usually a 
low-discrepancy
sequence and a sequence of pseudorandom vectors. We present nontrivial
discrepancy bounds for various kinds of hybrid sequences and a new 
version of
the Erdo"s-Turan-Koksma inequality which is suitable for hybrid sequences.
