Liebe Damen und Herren,

ich möchte sie alle einladen am Freitag, den 5.10, an einer Diskussion 
im Renner Institut teilzunehmen sowie am 6.7.10 am Workshop „How to 
write the People’s History of Maoist China“ an unserem Institut. Es 
nehmen namenhafte Chinawissenschaftler aus Nordamerika und Europa teil. 
Außerdem weise ich noch auf eine Veranstaltung am 11.10 mit einem 
Zeitzeugen hin, der über 20 Jahre als „Rechtsabweichler“ nach Xinjiang 
verbannt wurde.

Gauls. Did he not have even a cook with him?/ Philip of Spain wept when 
his armada went down. Was he the only one to weep?” (Brecht/“Questions 
from a Worker who Reads”).
Even today, popular science and mainstream historians focus rather on 
“great leaders” than on the experiences of ordinary people such as 
peasants, workers, maids, foot soldiers, migrants or ethnic minorities. 
We like to discuss the question of how can we discover the “voice of the 
voicelessness” in historical accounts and archives. How can we write 
national or global history that is focused on ordinary people and not on 
political elites? Are categories such as “class” or “the people” useful? 
Scholars who are specialized on Maoist China, Global and Austrian 
history will compare the experiences and the role of ordinary people in 
the historical development of their countries.

張成覺:《一个右派的饥饿历程—新疆漫忆》

讲者简介

張成覺，1939年12月生于香港，原籍广东东莞。上海交通大学毕业。作家、自由撰 
稿人。膺選2008年度百位华人公共知识分子；2010、2011华人百名公共知识分子。 
已出版长篇小说、电 影剧本、文艺随笔、博客选集及回忆录10种，曾在中、港、 
台获文艺奖项。

内容提要

中国大陆1958-1961三年大饥荒，饿死者不下3750万人。本人作为1957年反右派运 
动的受害者，1960年9月下旬被发配新疆军区生产建设兵团，自抵达 当地起就初尝 
挨饿的滋味。此后的1年半一直从事重体力劳动而又吃不饱，至1962年4月水肿接近 
饿死边缘。到1979年6月右派问题获改正，饥寒交迫的日子才结束。 长达18年的饥 
饿亲身体验在3本 著作中都有所记述，此次谨略作介绍。
