The Phonetics Cluster of the Acoustics Research Institute (ARI), an interdisciplinary research institution of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading non-university research facility, is offering a Student Assistant Position (F/M/X) (part-time / 8 – 16 hours per week).

The position is assigned to an FWF project entitled “Variation of /r/: a challenge for speakers and listeners” (https://www.oeaw.ac.at/isf/forschung/phonetik/laufende-projekte/variation-of-r-a-challenge-for-speakers-and-listeners-ml-team), supervised by Dr. habil. Eva Reinisch.

The tasks mainly involve the annotation of Austrian German audio data in the phonetics software Praat, assisting the PhD students of the project, Nathalie Elsässer and Hendrik Behrens-Zemek. The exact scope of the position will be discussed individually. The work time is expected to be 8 – 16 hours per week. Prior knowledge of acoustic phonetics, phonetic transcription and the software Praat (https://praat.org/) is desirable. At least a basic knowledge of German (for the project) and English (for communication at the institute) is required.

Please also indicate how many hours per week you would be available (8 – 16). The starting date should be between November and December 2025. The salary is paid according to the FWF rate “Student employee”.
