(King's College London) will be giving at the Department of English and 
American Studies next week. The titles of his talks are:

*People, Products, Pests and Pets: language about animals* (Friday 7 Dec

*#LedaToo: stylistics and the teaching of sexual ethics* (Thursday 6 Dec 
11:00)

Barbara Seidlhofer
*
Guy Cook* is an Emeritus Professor of Language in Education at King’s 
College London in the UK.  He is an applied linguist with particular 
interests in:

• discourse analysis
• the discursive representation of animals
• English language teaching
• language in public debates about the environment
• literary stylistics and literature teaching
• language play
• the language of advertising and public relations

He was co-editor of the Journal /Applied Linguistic//s/ from 2004-2009.  
He is an academician of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) and was 
Chair of the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL) from 
2009-2012.
