Guy Cook</b> is an Emeritus Professor of Language in Education
at King’s College London in the UK. He is an applied linguist
with particular interests in:</font><br>
<p><font size="-1"> • discourse analysis<br>
• the discursive representation of animals<br>
• English language teaching<br>
• language in public debates about the environment<br>
• literary stylistics and literature teaching<br>
• language play<br>
• the language of advertising and public relations</font></p>

<p><font size="-1">He was co-editor of the Journal <i>Applied
Linguistic</i><i>s</i> from 2004-2009. He is an academician
of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) and was Chair of the
British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL) from
2009-2012.</font></p>
