Hi Folks,
The issue with patches 14487[23]-02 was a missing requirement on patch
14700[23].
Any systems running Solaris 10 8/11 (Update 10) or the equivalent patch
bundle for that release will not be affected, as the required patch will
be on the target system.
Whenever we withdraw a patch we do issue a Service Alert to inform
customers detailing the issue as quickly as we can. Thankfully this does
not happen too often.
We've adhered to this approach for many years now and will continue to
do so going forward.
Apologies for any confusion that you may have experienced with this.
The following link tracks Service Alerts for Solaris and other former
Sun products:
https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=1021776.1
A good way to keep informed about new Service Alerts for Solaris is to
sign up for email notifications when new Service Alerts are released
against Solaris.
How to configuring these notifications is detailed at the bottom of the
above Knowledge Article:
1. Login to My Oracle Support at https://support.oracle.com/
2. Select the tab for "More" and then choose "Settings"
3. Select "Hot Topics E-Mail" from the left column
4. To update the Hot Topics Settings:
1. Toggle the E-Mail to 'On'
2. Ensure set "Send Every 1 Days"
3. Select desired format (text or HTML)
4. Set the item limit to some number larger than 5 (suggest 25)
5. Set Service Request to "None"
6. Leave "Product Bugs Marked as Favorites" unchecked
5. Add the needed Sun Alert Filter(s) ** Example: To receive
all Sun Alerts, use the following filter **
6. Select "Add..." (new window will pop up)
1. Add the Products "Sun Software - Generic" and "Sun Hardware
- Generic"
2. Also add the Platform "GENERIC (All Platforms)" for each
3. Check the "Knowledge Articles" box
4. Check the "Alerts" box
5. Select "OK" (selection window closes)
7. Select "Apply"
You should now be able to see the Hot Topics filter you just
set up.
8. Log out of My Oracle Support

I hope this is useful.
