I wanted to get feedback on what other are doing when installing patches.
For hosts in the environment I am trying to decide if I simply install all
patches or missingrs? I am aware of the added time and somewhat risk that
installing all introduces, but I have not had a problem and it seems to be
"best practice". Which one would be closer to the patch cluster?
Also, I have a number of DMZ hosts, as well as hosts on the private networks
that cannot access our proxy server to download the patchdiag.xref file,
when I run the pca command. If I copy the file manually to the /var/tmp/ is
works fine. I am wondering if there is an option I can use to have the
client try to download the latest file and if not use a default location. I
am aware of the -X (--xrefdir) option but I would like to use this as a
secondary should the download of the latest file fail. I have been a able
to accomplish this with
pca --dltries=1 -X=/location_to_file
Is there a "cleaner" way?
