No, they are not connected. The protocol specified with ssprot is only 
used when connecting to SunSolve.

For a local patch server, you specify it as part of the URL, like in:

   xrefurl=http://mysrv/pca/pca-proxy.cgi?
   patchurl=http://mysrv/pca/pca-proxy.cgi?
