Yep. I'm still investigating the new packaging system. I somewhat selfishly
hoped someone had already analyzed it and could've given a good summary :).

That used to be the case with Solaris express. However, supposedly for the
new openSolaris distribution each release will be supported for 18 months,
including back porting of security and bug fixes:
