I'm not sure whether they should be ignored (by pca) after looking
through the Portal Server patches (I've got a headache now).

According to the xref file, this patch has a fix for a file in the
SUNWpslcfg package, and it's the only patch which delivers a fix for
this package. So if this package is installed, the patch *does* apply,
and patchadd will install it. If it isn't faulty, I see no reason why it
should be ignored. Maybe the fact that the README only talks about
Solaris 8 and 9 confused the original poster; for unbundled patches, the
contents of the "Solaris Release" often are wrong.

The portal server patches seem to have been created by someone who isn't
familiar with Sun's patch procedures. One error is that there are two
patches for x86 and sparc, although the patches don't contain binaries
(just jar and text files) - one patch would suffice. The other error is
that old patches haven't been obsoleted by new patches (or revisions),
but completely new patches have been created instead.
As far as I can see, 118218 and 119325/119326 should have been obsoleted
by 119530/119531, which deliver the same files. Same for 118219 and
118950/118951. It should do no harm to install all of them either,
though. As the most recent patches have the highest patch ID, these will
be installed last anyway.
One could argue whether I could put a workaround into pca, but I tend to
think that if patchadd *does* apply a patch, it shouldn't be ignored by
pca, no matter how useful that is.
Martin.
