This question "might" be off-topic here, but with a bit of
good will, it might not be seen as OT :)
Here goes: Does anyone have a reference on how to setup a
local caching proxy which also caches such huge files as
the kernel or Java patches Sun likes to publish?
I tried setting up a local squid, but it doesn't seem to
cache these beasts :(
My squid.conf contains:
http_port 3128
hierarchy_stoplist cgi-bin ?
acl QUERY urlpath_regex cgi-bin \?
cache_dir ufs /data/squid/cache 2000 2 16
access_log /opt/csw/var/logs/squid.access.log
refresh_pattern ^ftp: 1440 20% 10080
refresh_pattern ^gopher: 1440 0% 1440
refresh_pattern . 0 20% 4320
acl apache rep_header Server ^Apache
broken_vary_encoding allow apache
peer_connect_timeout 7 hours
acl all src 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0
acl manager proto cache_object
acl localhost src 127.0.0.1/255.255.255.255
acl to_localhost dst 127.0.0.0/8
acl SSL_ports port 443
acl CONNECT method CONNECT
acl Rt src 10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0
cache deny QUERY
http_access allow manager localhost
http_access deny manager
http_access allow Rt
http_access deny !Safe_ports
http_access deny CONNECT !SSL_ports
http_access deny all
icp_access allow all
cache_effective_user nobody
check_hostnames off
coredump_dir /opt/csw/var/cache
Or if someone had a pointer at some other
local caching proxy program, then I'd be happy
as well :)
It should just act for our Solaris servers. It's
not for serving "the world". There aren't more than
like 15 systems.
Cheers,
Michael
