Dear visitors of the DissKoll (Dissertantenkolloquium),

On November 25, 2010, the DissKoll will have its second talk in this semester.

Harald Schilly (University of Vienna) will talk about "
Computer Assisted Lecture Scheduling".

Harald Schilly
Computer Assisted Lecture Scheduling
Abstract:

Every semester the Institute of Mathematics at the University of
Vienna faces the problem of scheduling all lectures. It is hard to
find a good scheduling given the rather small number of rooms. Fall
2010 is the first semester that was planned with computational
assistance by solving a combinatorial optimization problem. It takes
into account various types of constraints, overlappings of lectures in
the same field and tries to respect wishes from the teachers. This
talk gives an overview of the complete system, walks through the
various software components and design decisions covering input, data
storage, manipulation, computation and output, and gives a future
outlook of planned ideas.

Thursday, November 25, 2010, 17:15, Room C 2.07
Juice and cakes served from 17:00 in the Common Room C 2.06
