Dear visitors of the DissKoll (Dissertantenkolloquium),

On May 27, 2010, the DissKoll will have its third talk in spring 2010.
David Wimmesberger (University of Vienna) will talk about "The
time-dependent Pauli-Equation;
 Derivation, Application and Numerics by Example".

David Wimmesberger
The time-dependent Pauli-Equation; Derivation, Application and
Numerics by Example

Abstract:
The Pauli-Equation is a fundamental equation in quantum mechanics. It
is a very accurate model for elementary particles moving under the
influence of an electromagnetic field since it takes the effects
caused by spin into account. In this talk i give a brief introduction
to PDE-models used in quantum mechanics and i will derive
Schrödinger´s Equation as well as the Pauli-Equation. Furthermore an
application - the so called 'Pauli-Poiswell-System' is presented and
numerical results are shown.

Thursday, May 27, 2010, 17:15, Room C 2.09
Coffee and cakes served from 17:00 in the Common Room C 2.06
