and categorification"***

/The mathematical investigation of quantum field theories has lead to a 
wealth of new directions and insights. This is in particular true for 
topological field theories and for conformal field theories in two 
dimensions. Field theories can be understood as functors from a suitable 
category of manifolds to a suitable category of vector spaces. In this 
talk I would like to illustrate some of the algebraic objects one meets 
when trying to classify these functors. In the case of conformal field 
theory, for example, one is lead to consider a categorified version of 
modules over a ring.///
