The field of CR geometry is concerned with the study of real 
submanifolds of complex spaces, as well as the functions defined on them.
However, the focus on real objects beside complex ones entails the 
necessity to look at manifolds and functions which are only smooth rather t
han analytic. We will discuss several problems of CR geometry in which 
the switch to the smooth category plays an especially significant role.
