Habilitation von Dr. Markus Grasmair **„Non-smooth Variational Methods 
in Imaging and Inverse Problems“*

*Abstract:*Solving an ill-posed equation in a stable way is only possible, if some a-priori information about the expected solutions is available. Classically, such information consists of smoothness assumptions about the solutions; in many applications in image and signal processing, however, these assumptions are not appropriate. Instead, one may require a finite total variation or G-norm, or sparsity with respect to a Fourier or wavelet basis. With a Tikhonov type regularisation for the approximate solution of the ill-posed equation, this leads to non-differentiable, possibly non-convex variational functionals to be minimised. This talk will mainly focus on the theoretical properties of such regularisation methods with a strong emphasis on the derivation and discussion of their accuracy in the presence of noisy data.
