„Are there foundations of meaning in Mathematics? “

Summary: Since the crisis of foundations in the 19th and 20th Century an
enormous effort has been devoted to the establishment of a firm basis for
the truth of mathematical statements. I will discuss the idea that one
should also seek for a distinct basis for the meaning of mathematical
objects and statements.
In the past mathematicians concerned with this issue feared (or, worse, did
not fear) to become lost in a world of ill-defined concepts such as
"metaphor" or to be subjected to a reductionist ideology, but the recent
developments in cognitive science create new perspectives.
