Mathematisches Kolloquium – Einladung zu einem Vortrag im Rahmen der 
Habilitation von
Dr. Markus Haltmeier
„Mathematical Methods in Photoacoustic Image Reconstruction“

Abstract: Reconstruction-based photoacoustic tomography  is a  promising 
new modality for medical imaging.
It combines the high contrast of optical tomography with the high 
spatial resolution of ultrasound imaging. From a mathematical point of 
view,  photoacoustic tomography requires to solve an inverse source 
problem for the wave equation.  In this talk we adress main mathematical 
aspects of photoacoustic tomography,  ranging from uniqueness and  
stability of reconstruction to the design and implementation of 
reconstruction algorithms.
