Mathematisches Kolloquium
Prof. Giedrius Alkauskas (BOKU Wien): „Fredholm determinants, trace 
formulas and the eigenvalues of the Gauss-Kuzmin-Wirsing operator“

Abstract:
The Mayer-Ruelle operator is a central object in analytic number theory. 
The Fredholm determinant of its shift is the Selberg zeta function, 
which encodes information about real quadratic fields. This operator 
also encodes the non-trivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function. The 
trace of this operator can be given explicitly. The special case of 
Mayer-Ruelle operator is the celebrated Gauss-Kuzmin-Wirsing operator, 
which is intricately related with regular continued fractions. In this 
talk, we will present resent results on the eigenvalues of this operator.
