Dear Colleagues and friends,

 

Please excuse the anonymous tone but I have BCC you all to avoid a huge list
of addresses. Due to the sudden abandonment of a AHRC Asian Language and
Cultural Doctoral Award for start in Sep 2010, we are now seeking urgently
to find an eligible replacement. The project should fit into a humanities
framework and must involve the use of Chinese language materials. A
research-level command of Chinese is obviously required. I personally would
most welcome applicants with a project on Chinese business, economic or
contemporary social history. Funding restrictions make the award only
available to UK-EU applicants.

The School of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Nottingham
is one of the leading centres for advanced interdisciplinary research in the
humanities and social sciences related to China. We are seeking a student
for the prestigious Asian Language and Cultural Doctoral Award under the
Arts and Humanities Research Council BGP Scheme. 

 

Applications are sought from students who wish to research a humanities
topic related to China. The award requires that the student is able to
undertake research using Chinese language materials in the humanities.
Potential areas of research include:

 

¡¤         Chinese culture and society 

¡¤         Media and communications 

¡¤         Literature and philosophy 

¡¤         Contemporary social and business history

 

Due to funding restrictions this studentship is only open to UK/EU students.
