Workshop title: Mainland China and Taiwan - cooperation and/or competitionVenue address:COSD BreženkaFiesa 806330 PiranSLOVENIA   Date: August 29th ,30th ,31st 2008Workshop:The annual international workshop on Chinese Studies was first held in 2003. From the start, its organization has been conducted by the Sinological Society Yuan, whose members include students, academics and other individuals whose work relates to the field of Sinology.This year's workshop will focus on cross-strait relations between Mainland China and Taiwan. Both students and visiting professors will be encouraged to present papers that will help understand different aspects of cooperation and possible drawbacks between Taiwan and Mainland China. The main emphasis of the workshop will be put on social relations between the two societies.Detailed descriptionDate: August 29th,30th,31st 2008Venue The workshop will take place in a Slovenian coastal town of Fiesa - Piran, in the venue of CSOD (Centre of curricular and extracurricular activities), a government sponsored non-profit organization.Breakfast and lunch will be provided at the venue; snacks and refreshments will also be available during lectures and workshops.The venue also offers different types of sport and leisure activities (table tennis, rock-climbing.)AccommodationDormitory accommodation is available at the venue. Various hotels and private accommodationcan also be found around the venue.Yuan society will pay for the accommodation and food for those presenting papers.Transport Transport will be arranged to and from Koper train and bus stations. Private bus transportation may be arranged from Ljubljana in case of adequate interest.Yuan society will pay for the transportation for those presenting papers.Technical descriptionThe workshop will consist of two main parts; one part will consist of the presentation of papers followed by discussions, the other part will be more practical with several workshops led by different mentors.
