Dear colleagues,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to draw your attention to the Call for Papers for our workshop at the 49th Annual Conference of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sprachwissenschaft (DGfS), “Clitics and Agreement Markers Across Languages: From Balkan to Bantu and Beyond.” We thought the topic might be relevant to you, as well as to students or colleagues working on related issues.

The workshop will take place during DGfS 2027 in Jena, Germany, from 2–5 March 2027. It addresses the relationship between clitics and agreement markers from a cross-linguistic perspective, with particular attention to questions of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and the architecture of grammar. We welcome theoretical, empirical, and experimental contributions on clitics, agreement, clitic doubling, object marking, and related phenomena across languages.

We are very pleased that Dalina Kallulli from the University of Vienna and Marcel den Dikken from the Centre of Linguistics of the University of Lisbon / Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics in Budapest will join us as invited speakers.

The deadline for abstract submission is 23 July 2026. The full call, including submission details, is available here:

https://linguistlist.org/issues/37/2066/

We would be very grateful if you could circulate the call among colleagues, students, and relevant mailing lists. And of course, we would be delighted if you considered submitting something yourself.

Best wishes,
Ekaterina Levina
