Dear all,

The Center for Cognitive Science of Language at the University of Nova
Gorica would like to invite you to our next Jezik & Linguistics Colloquium,
to be held on *Thursday, February 5,* at *13:00 CET*, streaming on Zoom
<https://ungsi.zoom.us/j/69078801802?pwd=adfU10B2NjKlXVKGEOWWAbRdzEGToR.1> (
https://ungsi.zoom.us/j/67385583089?pwd=SiBdFw6Ipnye4veHVtEfnK5UgssGxp.1).

*Kaja Dobrovoljc* ( University of Ljubljana & Jozef Stefan Institute ) will
be presenting a talk titled "*Morphosyntactically annotated corpora for
Slovenian: linguistic insights, applications, and open challenges*".

*Abstract:*

*The talk introduces morphosyntactically annotated corpora as a resource
for usage-based study of Slovenian grammar, with a focus on treebanks
developed within the Universal Dependencies framework. After a brief
overview of existing resources and the challenges involved in annotating
written and spoken data, I present a set of case studies illustrating their
use in grammatical research, including recent work on treebank-driven
analyses of syntactic variation across modalities and languages, as well as
work on developing and evaluating parsing models grounded in these
annotated resources. The talk concludes with a discussion of the strengths,
limitations, and future challenges of corpus-based morphosyntactic
research.*

We hope to see you there!

Best,

Arne Goelz, on behalf of the Center for the Cognitive Science of Language -
University of Nova Gorica
