Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to submit an abstract for *ILANSCO 2026: 
Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Landscapes in Language, Society, and 
Cognition

taking place 16-18 September 2026 at the Czech Academy of Scienc

Prague, Czech Republic.

Following the success of ILANSCO 2024 in Zürich, the upcoming conference 
will explore the theme, *“Emerging Landscapes: Languages and Landscapes 
in Conflict.”*

We welcome interdisciplinary contributions that explore how landscapes 
are shaped, contested, and experienced, especially in contexts where 
linguistic, cultural, political, or ecological dynamics challenge 
conventional modes of perception. We are particularly interested in 
research addressing frontier situations, including:

  *
    Limits of perceptual tools, such as in extreme environments, newly
    settled areas, political upheavals, or rapidly transforming
    socio-natural contexts (Henshaw, 2006);
  *
    Cases when methods and theories fall short, such as where linguistic
    descriptions conflict with embodied or experiential knowledge
    (Feinberg & Genz, 2012);
  *
    Contested or contingent landscapes – shaped by intersecting
    linguistic, ethnic, political, and environmental claims (Adderley &
    Mills, 2014; Rose-Redwood et al., 2018; Saunders & Cornish, 2021;
    Berr et al., 2024).


We encourage submissions from early-career researchers and welcome 
ongoing or unpublished work. Contributions may use qualitative, 
quantitative, theoretical, experimental, or computational approaches.

A post-conference publication is planned for selected contributions.

Abstracts (max. 300 words) should include 3-5 keywords and briefly 
outline the topic, data, methodology, and theoretical framework. Please 
clearly indicate the interdisciplinary scope of your contribution. 
Presentations will be 20 minutes long with 10 minutes for discussion.
