Dear all,
We would like to draw your attention to the third edition of the
workshop series "Gaps and Imprecision in Natural Language Semantics"
(formerly 'Homogeneity and Non-Maximality Workshop').
Where: ZAS Berlin (with option for online presentation)
When: October 8-9, 2024
Submission deadline: July 31, 2024
Details on how to submit: https://gaps-and-imprecision.netlify.app/call/
The goals of this workshop are
1) to figure out the similarities and differences between semantic
phenomena where gaps between positive and negative sentences co-occur
with semantic variability -- this includes homogeneity and
non-maximality, presuppositions and local accommodation, optional
exhaustification, vagueness etc.
and 2) to determine to what extent it's plausible to assume that
semantic gaps and semantic variability are generally closely related.
A longer version of the call and a list of research questions that fit
the workshop topic can be found at
https://gaps-and-imprecision.netlify.app/call/
In addition to 40-minute talk slots, we will also have 20-minute slots
for squib presentations. We explicitly encourage submissions by students
and work in progress.
We hope to see many of you there!
Best,
Keny Chatain and Nina Haslinger
