[PLing] CfP: IMM Workshop "Adjectives, Categorization and Argument structure"

Dear colleagues,

As part of the 21st International Morphology Meeting (28 - 30 August 2024, Vienna; https://www.wu.ac.at/en/bizcomm/events/imm21/), Martina Werner (Austrian Academy of Sciences) and I would like to invite abstract submissions for a workshop on "adjectives, categorization and argument structure". The aim of this workshop is to investigate and compare the morphology and morphosyntax of different classes of adjectives or “adjectival concepts”, their categorization/lexicalization, and their morphosemantics and argument structure from different theoretical perspectives. The workshop is jointly organized as part of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) projects “Relational adjectives in the history of German” (FWF P 32415-G, PI Werner) and “Verbal categories and categorizers in diachrony” (FWF V 850-G, PI Grestenberger).

We are pleased to announce that Antonio Fábregas (Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU) has agreed to give the keynote presentation at this workshop.

Abstracts for 20-minute presentations should be anonymous, between 500-750 words in length and in English. The deadline for submission is Nov. 30, 2023; please send your anonymous abstract to martina.werner at oeaw.ac.at and laura.grestenberger at oeaw.ac.at. Notifications of acceptance will be sent around Jan. 15, 2024.

P.S. Please note that the deadline for abstract submission to the IMM main session is Oct. 31, and that abstracts submitted to the main session will not be considered for the workshop (and vice versa).
