Ph.D. positions in Linguistics - Universities of Verona & Bozen/Bolzano

The University of Verona and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano have
currently opened 7 positions within their joint Ph.D. programme in
Linguistics. Selected Ph.D. candidates will receive a 3-year fellowship.


The successful applicants are committed to conducting independent and
original scientific research and participating in local, national, and
international training activities to develop their potential. Given the
multilingual environment of the programme, we encourage the application
of international students with a good command of English and at least
one second language (Italian or German).

Applications can be uploaded starting 12th April 2023. The deadline for
online applications is 12th May 2023 (1p.m. Italian time, GMT+1). Only
online applications through the university application system are
accepted (please do not send applications via e-mail). Information about

The selection procedure involves evaluation of the candidates' Master's
theses, their research project as well as an online interview. For

One of the fellowships is reserved for a Ph.D. project dedicated to the
realization of a project in the context of the cooperation with the
University of Marburg. For this project a good knowledge of German is

Candidates interested in this fellowship must indicate their preference
in the application form.

A second fellowship is reserved for a Ph.D. project dedicated to the
realization of a project in the context of “Inclusive Humanities”.
The project will develop linguistic research on the topics of inclusion
and diversity, understood as otherness, marginality, and disability.

Candidates interested in this fellowship must indicate their preference
in the application form.

A third fellowship is reserved for a Ph.D. project dedicated to the
edition of Ladin texts of the 19th century. For this project a good
knowledge of Ladin is required. For details see
