The Call for Bids for hosting the Sociolinguistic Symposium 23 in 2020 is now open. The Sociolinguistics Symposium has been organized 21 times in different countries. As you know, in 2018, the 22nd symposium will be held in Auckland, New Zealand (http://www.ss22.ac.nz/), and we are now looking for the host for the SS23. Please, find attached the guidelines for submitting a proposal, which basically require information about:
 
• Host institution: university, department, research centre and the local expertise in sociolinguistics • Dates • Conference venue & facilities: university, conference center, other • Travel: relevant flight and ground connections • Accommodation: availability of rooms; variety of options; average costs • Experience in conference organization: list of conferences (recently) organized • Conference chair(s) and local organizing committee: names, institution(s) • Conference theme (and possible plenaries): (tentative) • Other: e.g. tourism; local funding, sponsors etc.
 
The deadline for submitting bids is next 30th September 2016. 

The winning bid to host SS23 will be announced next Autumn 2016 and presented during the Sociolinguistics Symposium 22, in Auckland 2018.
