[pca] different directory for patches

I would be VERY careful about using a softlink for /var/sadm or anything below it. When installing the Ops Center agent we found that some packages have wiped out the softlink and re-created /var/sadm and new directories and files (e.g. contents, etc.) under the new instance of /var/sadm. After raising a case with Oracle, it was stated that using softlinks for /var/sadm was not allowed, though this was specifically for the OC agent install. It may apply to other Solaris/Oracle package installs as well.

It would be better to create a new partition (even a soft partition on a metadevice) and mount /var/sadm on the new partition.

Is there a way I can force patchadd to look in a different directory than the default /var/sadm/pkg directory? We created a softlink from /var/sadm/pkg to /apps/sadm/pkg (due to space issues), but now patchadd always fails:

Directory is expected, found link - /var/sadm/pkg.
Failed (exit code 1)

Showrev -p does fine; and downloading the patches with pca -d does fine as well. It's just the actual installation of the patches where it fails. I'm pretty sure I had this fixed before, but honestly, I don't remember what I did (plan to DOCUMENT what I do this time!). Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
