For a manual download of patchdiag.xref, better do that:

   - Go to http://sunsolve.sun.com/ in your browser
   - Select "Patches and Updates"
   - Click on "The patchdiag.xref File" and authenticate, when asked

This points to http://sunsolve.sun.com/pdownload.do?target=patchdiag.xref
which worked for me, a minute ago.

Some time ago, Sun started to distribute the patches (and
patchdiag.xref) via the Akamai-Service. That's why you get redirected to
one of Akamai's servers for the actual download. That's OK, and Akamai
itself has never been the fault of failing downloads, as far as I know.
It's sunsolve.sun.com and the authentication service in the background
which causes the problems, and most of the time it seems as if only
automatic downloads (with wget/pca) via HTTPS are affected.

An hour ago, I downloaded about 50 patches manually via SunSolve, and
this worked fine. wget/pca still hangs or fails. Sigh.

Martin.
