[pca] Missing packages while installing patches

Hello Paul,
Thanks for your answer.
I see the point. However, the patch at the end is not installed because it's
missing the 125077-02 patch, which is not available at Sunsolve's site.
Is there any way to force the installation? Something â la RPM with the
--no-dependencies option.
TIA,
Josep

Yes. pca (actually patchadd, which is used by pca to install patches)
installs patches when at least one of the packages included in a patch
is installed.
The above situation is quite common, BTW. SUNWsmbaS contains the source
for samba, which is not installed by default. The patch includes
modifications both to the binaries and sources. As you don't have the
sources installed, they don't need to be updated.
This leads to one of the problems with Sun's packacke/patch system. If
you have package A installed, then install patch 1 with fixes for
packages A and B, the fixes for A will be applied. If you later install
package B, you will have to re-install patch 1 to ensure that the fixes
from the patch are applied to package B as well.
Hope that helps,
Martin.
