looks like u need to do !VRTS to be able to exclude volume manager. 
!VERITAS wont do it.

Jeff,

Great tip, I will probably add sendmail also.

!VERITAS will presumably exclude volume manager also.  I hope they don't 
decide to rebadge the product as Symantec.

I put the following line in my .pca file to avoid Veritas Netbackup
and sendmail (I roll my own version of both):

pattern=!VERITAS|sendmail

The NOT VERITAS keeps the Sun version of Netbackup away.
