<p>GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP <br>
<br>
The financial support of the Gerda Henkel Foundation and the
Elise and Annemarie Jacobi Foundation, in accordance with the
will of Mrs. Annemarie Jacobi, makes it possible for the
Commission to support graduate students "of outstanding
potential and limited financial freedom" from all countries of
the world who are currently preparing or completing doctoral
dissertations in the field of Ancient History and closely
associated fields. Work on the publication of a dissertation can
also be supported as long as the date of the examination is no
more than six months prior to the date of the application.<br>
<br>
The Commission hereby advertises scholarships for German and
foreign doctoral students to enable research stays at its
library, which is excellently equipped for work on Ancient
History. The planned stay should be of a duration of three
months – according to the quarters of the year. In addition to a
desk in the library, candidates will receive free on-site
accommodation in a fully furnished apartment in the same
building, a reimbursement of their travel costs up to a maximum
of EUR 350 (Europe) or EUR 1000 (overseas), and a subsidy of EUR
600 per month for covering living expenses.<br>
<br>
Applications in German, English, French, Italian, or Spanish are
to be accompanied by the following documents:<br>
1. a detailed description of the dissertation project with
information about its current state of completion (up to 5000
characters in total, incl. spaces),<br>
2. a work schedule (up to 300 characters in total) for the stay
in Munich,<br>
3. the intended dates of the funding period (i.e., 1st,
2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarter of a
year),<br>
4. a curriculum vitae,<br>
5. copies of the most important academic qualifications, and<br>
6. two letters of reference, one from the dissertation
supervisor and one from another academic teacher.</p>
<p>Applications are possible four times a year (by 1 January, 1
April, 1 July, and 1 October) and should be directed to the
director of the Commission. They should be submitted at least
six months before the beginning of the scholarship. Please send
all documents (except the letters of reference) as an email
attachment in a single file to <a
href="mailto:jacobi.stipendium@dainst.de"
moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext">jacobi.stipendium@dainst.de</a>.
We kindly ask referees to send their letters of reference (1–2
pages) independently of the application in separate e-mails to
the same address.</p>
