<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:35.4pt"><font size="2" face="Calibri"><span lang="DE" style="font-size:11.0pt;mso-ansi-language:DE">Die Vermittlung wissenschaftlicher Inhalte an ein größeres Publikum stellt für Forscher/innen eine immer größere Herausforderung
dar, weil dies in Form von Science-to-public-Aktivitäten von Drittmittelgebern und für die öffentliche Akzeptanz und Aufmerksamkeit immer mehr gefordert wird. Gleichzeitig ist durch WEB 2.0 und eine extensive Nutzung von Social Media die Distanz zwischen Forscher/innen
und Öffentlichkeit geringer geworden, da Nutzer/innen unmittelbar auf die ihnen präsentierten Inhalte reagieren können. Die technischen Entwicklungen erfordern daher nicht allein die Fähigkeit zum Schreiben populärwissenschaftlicher Texte, sondern auch Fertigkeiten
in der virtuellen Präsentation von Bildern, Karten, Objekten etc. mithilfe von Multimedia-Systemen bis hin zum virtuellen Museum. Die Altertumswissenschaften bieten durch ihre Materialität ein weites Feld für ein „Wissenschaftsmarketing“ und sind dabei in
ihrer öffentlichen Wahrnehmung Teil eines großen kompetitiven Kulturbetriebes, in welchem sie sich um öffentliche oder private Zuwendung bemühen müssen. So gehört es mittlerweile zum Berufsalltag, nicht nur Fundraising zu betreiben, sondern auch dafür zu sorgen,
dass beispielsweise Grabungsfunde und -befunde oder neue Forschungsergebnisse einem möglichst großen Publikum verständlich präsentiert werden. Das Erlernen dieser Kompetenzen ist im Curriculum der klassischen Altertumswissenschaften aber selten vorgesehen
und bleibt allenfalls der Museumsdidaktik vorbehalten. <br>
Die Summerschool will diese Lücke schließen. In Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Universität Graz, dem Universalmuseum Joanneum Graz und der Alten Geschichte der Universität Trier sollen angehende Wissenschaftler/innen aus Einblicken in archäologische Feldarbeit,
Alte Geschichte und Museumsarbeit unter Mithilfe von Fachleuten aus Presse und Film sowie den Digitalen Geisteswissenschaften neue Möglichkeiten der didaktischen Erschließung und Vermittlung komplexer Inhalte zu generieren lernen. <br>
Die Ergebnisse der Teilnehmer/innen der Summerschool werden im Rahmen der Science-to-Public-Veranstaltung „Eine Zukunft für die Vergangenheit“ am Sonntag, dem 6. August 2017, im Archäologiemuseum des Universalmuseums Joanneum im Park von Schloss Eggenberg präsentiert.</span></font><font size="2" face="PMingLiU"><span lang="DE" style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"PMingLiU",serif;mso-ansi-language:DE"><br>
