eines seit langem etablierten Schemas der europäischen Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte vorgelegt, des sogenannten Agrardualismus

zwischen einer durch ‚Gutsherrschaft‘ und ,zweite Leibeigenschaft‘ charakterisierten ost(mittel)europäischen Zone und einer durch ‚Grundherrschaft‘

und relativ lose Formen bäuerlicher Untertänigkeit gekennzeichneten west(mittel)europäischen Zone.

Das kleine Buch beinhaltet die <i>summa</i> des historiographischen Schaffens von Markus Cerman. Es ist weithin rezipiert worden und gilt – zumindest<br>
in der englischsprachigen akademischen Welt – inzwischen als eines der wesentlichen Referenzwerke zu diesem Thema.
