<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span lang="DE" style="font-family:"Garamond","serif"">In den gallischen und germanischen Provinzen des Römischen Reiches sind zahlreiche Götternamen und -beinamen keltischen und manchmal germanischen Ursprungs
inschriftlich bezeugt. Versuchte man bisher, diese mit vorrömischen Kulten in Verbindung zu bringen, so hat sich in den letzten Jahren immer mehr herausgestellt, dass die gallo-römische Religion eine provinziale Neuschöpfung ist, ein tertium sui generis. So
soll an ausgewählten Beispielen gezeigt werden, dass die Götternamen zwar auf die vorrömische Eisenzeit zurückgehen können (nicht müssen!), die jeweiligen Kulte aber in der Regel in römischer Zeit in einem Prozess der Romanisation entstanden sind, bzw. so
umgeformt wurden, dass sie sich gänzlich in die lokalen gallo-römischen Panthea integrierten. Somit scheint es aus religionshistorischer Sicht schwierig, wenn nicht gar unmöglich, auf der Basis der auf kaiserzeitlichen Inschriften bezeugten keltischen Götternamen
