Ob persönlich, in Form schriftlicher Interviews, in Sound-Dokumenten oder Videos präsent – jene, die dabei gewesen sind, belegen, veranschaulichen und illustrieren. Sie stehen für das Konkrete zum Abstrakten, das Private zum Offiziellen, das Menschliche zum Politischen, die Perspektive zur Meistererzählung. Während die historiografische Darstellungsweise mitunter distanziert erscheint, wirken Zeuginnen und Zeugen authentisch, berührend und unmittelbar. Doch erfüllen sie im musealen Einsatz die ihnen zugedachten Erwartungen?<br><br>Wir möchten am Beispiel konkreter Projekte besprechen, in welchen Rollen und Funktionen Zeitzeuginnen und -zeugen in Ausstellungen heute auftreten. In welchem Verhältnis stehen sie zu den klassischen musealen Bedeutungsträgern? Wie können ihre Berichte gestalterisch integriert werden und welche Kontextualisierungen legen welche Lesarten nahe? Was bedeutet das biologische Ende der Erfahrungsgenerationen und die Wende hin zu neuen Formen der Vermittlung für jene, die Ausstellungen verantworten und für jene, die sie rezipieren?
