Außereuropäischen Regionen</span></b><span

vergleichsweise geringe Bedeutung bei. Ist es aber
ausreichend, munter drauf los das Wissen über andere Länder
und Kulturen zu verbreitern? <br>
<br>
<b>Unsere Geschichtstheorien</b> und Konzepte, mit denen
historische Daten interpretiert und eingeordnet werden,
nehmen (West-)Europa bzw. den Westen zum Maßstab.
Entwicklungen, die für Europa charakteristisch waren, werden
als Anspruch, Norm und Bezugsrahmen für Fortschritt und
Entwicklung auf die gesamte Welt übertragen; europäische
Kategorien des Fortschritts haben sich fest in unsere
Gedanken und in unsere Sprache (vorn sein, abhängen,
Überholspur, nachhinken ...) eingeschrieben. <br>
<br>
<b>Globalgeschichte</b> bedeutet, Einstellungen und
vorgefasste Urteile zu hinterfragen und unreflektierte
Grundannahmen der Geschichtsschreibung auf ihren
eurozentrischen Universalismus zu hinterfragen: Vertraute
Stützen und Begriffe, z.B. zur Bezeichnung von Perioden
(wessen Mittelalter?), Regionen (wessen Naher Osten?) und
Entwicklungsniveaus (Wer sagt, was Spitze ist? Wer verteilt
die Noten im Ranking?).<br>
<br>
<b>Der Vortrag</b> stellt zunächst das eurozentrische
Periodisierungsmuster von (Welt-) Geschichte vor, zeigt
dessen Grenzen auf und diskutiert in der Folge mögliche
Auswege: Multiperspektivität, lexikalische Breite oder
Zusammenführung von Regionalgeschichten im Rahmen einer
trans-regionalen Interaktionsgeschichte. <br>
