Begeisterung unter der westlichen Linken reisten im Frühjahr
1974 fünf namhafte Intellektuelle aus Frankreich nach China:
Roland Barthes, Julia Kristeva, Marcelin Pleynet, Philippe
Sollers, François Wahl. Sie gehörten zum engeren Kreis der
Avantgarde-Zeitschrift </span><span style=" font-size:10pt">
<i>Tel Quel</i></span><span style=" font-size:10pt">. Alle
publizierten sie in den Jahren und Jahrzehnten danach
ausgiebig zu ihrer China-Erfahrung – vielfach alles andere
als frei von Exotisierungen und Orientalismen.</span></font></p>
<p style="margin-left:0mm; margin-right:0mm; text-indent:0mm;
margin-top:0.00mm; margin-bottom:1.41mm;" align="justify"><font
face="Calibri" size="2">
<span style=" font-size:10pt">Der Vortrag stellt ein Re-Reading
dieser Reisetexte der „Telquelianer“ zur Diskussion und
fokussiert dabei auf Elemente, die in der kritischen Rezeption
bislang systematisch ausgeblendet erscheinen. Welche Funktion
haben etwa die Leerstellen in der oft zitierten
Schlüsselszene, in der sich die Reisegruppe gleichsam
existenziell mit dem Blick der „Fremden“ konfrontiert sah?
Welchen Status hat Kristevas Buch </span><span style="
font-size:10pt"><i>Die Chinesin</i></span><span style="
font-size:10pt"> als Intertext in einer ganzen Reihe
feministischer Reiseberichte über China unter Mao? Und
schließlich, angesichts der nicht-heteronormativen
Positionierung von Barthes und Wahl, welche Rolle spielen
homosexuelle Präsenz und homophobe Gewalt in den Narrationen
der Telquelianer?</span></font></p>
