GRADE 7: £29,099 - £35,788 per annum

The University proposes to appoint a
Departmental Lecturer in
Egyptology from 1 September 2012 or as soon
as possible thereafter for
one year to provide temporary cover during
the leave of Mark Smith.
The Departmental Lecturer will be required
to teach, supervise,
examine and carry out research in the field
of Egyptology, and to
participate in the administrative work of
the subject group.

The successful applicant must have
completed, or be close to
completing, a doctorate in Egyptology or a
closely related field;
possess a solid knowledge of all major
phases of Egyptian language; be
qualified to teach Demotic and Coptic; have
the ability to teach
undergraduate and graduate students in a
range of courses and to
supervise undergraduates in civilization and
history and for some
special options; and be able to demonstrate
a commitment to publishing
research in their field of study.  Excellent
interpersonal and organisational skills and
