mit dem Thema:

''Denstiy Operators and the Uncertainty Principle ''

Abstract:
A density operator on a Hilbert space is a nonnegative self-adjoint trace
class operator with trace one. (Density operators play a fundamental role in
quantum mechanics, because they describe the mixed states and their Wigner
transforms). It has been known for a long time that the positivity of
self-adjoint operators is intimately related to the uncertainty principle.
The aim of this talk is to relate previous work of Narcowich, O'Connell, and
others, on the topic ,to Gromov's non-squeezing theorem of symplectic
topology. This gives us the opportunity to discuss in some depth a precise
formulation of the uncertainty principle ignored by most authors, and to
relate it to the notion of symplectic capacity.
