Dear visitors of the DissKoll (Dissertantenkolloquium),

The DissKoll will be back in fall 2010 and therefore will start on
October 14, 2010, with its first talk.
Natalie Happenhofer (University of Vienna) will talk about "Simulation
of Low Mach Numbers".

Simulation of Low Mach Numbers

Solving the Navier-Stokes Equations for compressible fluid dynamics
explicitly requires choosing very small time steps to ensure the
stability of the numerical scheme. In this talk a semi-implicit
pressure-correction method designed to alleviate the time step
restriction due to sound waves in Low Mach Number fluids and its
applications to astrophysical problems are presented.
